The importance of constructing, independently and collegially, to the
quality of their school.
Becoming involved in the school is very rewarding. At Winston Churchill High School I helped coach the grade 9 boys volleyball team; this opportunity was so amazing. I had a blast being involved in the sport and I also got to meet so many more students that I otherwise would not have had the opportunity to meet and get to know as individuals. During this experience I also had the chance to meet and build relationships with the other coaches. As well as coaching, I have had the opportunity to become involved in Churchill Days; I was able to run a yoga session for students who signed up. This was a great experience for me in that I was able to try teaching something that is so different from science. Additionally, I supervised the Halloween high school dance. This was a great experience to see students outside of the regular classroom. In November I was able to help serve food at the local homeless shelter. So many teachers came to this event on a Sunday night and it really showed me how the Churchill staff is truly a family and one in which will lend a hand to others who are in need. I feel that supporting each other as a staff community is extremely important, but being able to help others in the community is priceless!
