The importance of career-long learning.
I value career long learning for my professional goals and my personal goals. Eventually, I would love to get my Master's degree in Education to further my opportunities in this field. However, in the mean time I am furthering my growth by engaging in PD sessions, reading books, and reflecting in my PSIII internship. The PD session that I attended this year while at Winston Churchill was a session based on using technology in the classroom. This PD session is directly related to my professional inquiry project. Another way in which I am growing as a professional is making goals in my Teaching Professional Growth Plan. See my Professional Growth Plans under the "Kira Goodrich" tab. For my own personal growth this year, I am looking at taking a scuba diving course because I feel it would be fun and challenging!
Incorporating technology into the classroom
After PSII my goal was to learn more about technology and how to use it in the classroom. For PSIII, I then created a "how to" website for many online resources that I learned about over the semester. This project allowed me to learn ineptly about many new resources for the classroom. After my PSIII practicum I was able to come back to the school and host a PD session to show these recourses to the teachers. I believe life long learning will continually better your teaching and one of the best ways to do this is to collaborate with colleges.
I am currently reading Barbara Coloroso's book, "The kids are worth it!"

When I was in PSII, I had a professor recommend this book as a great read. I took her advice and over the summer I have begun reading this book. Although this book is about parenting, it has great applications to teaching.
