A. Professional Goals
Goal#1:
I would like to incorporate more technology into my lessons and activities.
Rationale:
I believe that I will engage the 21st century learners more effectively by including more technology. I feel that the education system is moving towards using more and more technology in the everyday classroom and I would like to get comfortable and experiment with the different forms of technology.
Strategies for addressing Goal:
I am going to have technology in at
least one lesson every day. I will use technology such as: videos, polls,
PowerPoint, and graphic organizers.
Indicators of Progress for Goal:
Lesson plans, teacher mentor notes, university consultant notes and if possible, students comments.
Timeline for completion:
I would like to work on my first goal throughout my semester. I feel that this goal does not have a completion date; it is something that I strive to work on for my career as technology is always changing.
Goal#2:
I would like to improve my formative assessment techniques in the classroom and use those techniques in every lesson.
Rationale:
I feel that in every lesson students should have the opportunity to showcase their knowledge or ask questions before the class moves onto the next topic. Formative assessment is a great form of feedback for the lesson or topic; I would be able to gauge if students are comfortable or struggling with a concept before the summative assessment. It is important to know the level at which the students are to better pace the lessons and help the students learn.
Strategies for addressing Goal
I would like to adopt should techniques like daily journals, bell questions, small quizzes, strategic questioning, exit slips, and polls.
Indicators of Progress for Goal:
Lesson plans, teacher mentor notes, university consultant notes and if possible, students comments.
Time line for completion:
I would like to complete this goal by the end of October. I want to find effective formative assessments that the students and I enjoy in the first two months and then have the opportunity in November and December to implement them in a routine fashion.
