Learning is a passion of mine; I especially enjoy learning about science. I graduated university with a GPA of 3.7.
To stay up to date and current with my teaching, I also stay connected with other educators and professionals in my field; I follow many leading educators on Twitter and Scoop.it. In addition, I communicate and share resources and knowledge with other educators in my school and community.
Teaching grade 3 was a new challenge that I had the opportunity to face my first year out of University. I was unfamiliar with literacy practises and resources. Before, I began teaching I spent countless hours reading and learning from books such as the The Daily 5, CAFE, Words our Way, and Lucy Culkin. I continue to build my knowledge by collaborating with colleagues and the literacy coach for our district. I have also joined a literacy group through the ATA where I receive information on new and effective practises regarding literacy.
I believe that an effective teacher is also learning and bettering their practises along with their students every year!
